Surviving Childhood Sexual Abuse

The surviving, healing and recovery from childhood sexual abuse is a path unto itself. One that thousands of children in this country are placed on unwillingly. The journey through, then beyond, those experiences and the effect on a persons life is as varied as the survivors themselves. Expression and release of the experiences and the emotions attached to those experiences are important in the healing and recovery process. Some call the creative endeavors that spring from this place of raw truth art; others call it confessional and somehow diminished as true art. I view it as a true art form as valid as the creators of art that springs from any experience that encourages creative expression. I offer here a sampling of my own expressions from that time in my life, those select years in my early thirties when I paused for four years to feel, to remember, to lend truth to the things that happened and the way those things affected me.

In Love and Light,
