- Painter 3D
- Painter 3D is a very interesting product. It allows you to 'paint' the surfaces of your mesh like you would a canvas, and export a custom texture map with the information. Already quite useful on its own, it begins to really shine when pared with poser. Imagine being able to create a fast and easy high quality texture map for each and every figure. Try not to drool to much on the keyboard. ;-)
- RAY Dream Studio V5.0
- Ray Dream Studio is an intuitive easy to use modeling package that although in the middle price rage provides high end functionality. May people I know use it o create detailed models as well as morphs for other programs. This includes those useful but hard to find Poser morphs.
- Poser V3.0
- Poser V2.0
- Poser is quite possibly the most useful aid in 3D design ever created. It allows the artist to create and animate 3D human figures. These can then be exported to your favorite rendering software to become part of your scene. Many of the pieces in our art gallery were done with the aid of Poser.
- Bryce v4.0 for Mac and Windows
- Bryce 3D
- Bryce 3D is one of those rare gems of software that are easy enough for beginners, but powerful enough for professionals to keep a copy around even after they have 'graduated' to more expensive software. It is primarily used in creating realistic landscapes in a snap but is able to do many of the things that the high end rendering software can accomplish. 95% of Edward Hall's art in the gallery was rendered in Bryce 3D taking advantage of its features. Highest Recommendation!
- Truespace 4
- Truespace 3
- When Truespace first came out, it was looked down on by those in the field because its interface was unusual and hard to master, as well as having a small price. In fact, it offered nearly all the features of the expensive programs such as Lightwave, and was just as easy to use. Three versions later it has gone solid platinum while still retaining a reasonable price. It is now firmly entrenched in the 3D community and finally given its just due.
- Director MultiMedia Studio V6.5 by MACROMEDIA
- Ever surfed the web and seen a super cool movie, game, or special effect? Chances are good it was done using Director. Even if this was not enough, it can be used to quickly and easily create entire rich multimedia programs. A must for any designer.
- Photoshop v5.0
- Adobe Photoshop 4.0: Tips & Tricks (Direct Download Book)
- Adobe Photoshop 4.0: Introduction (Direct Download Book)
- Photoshop is the industry standard for image manipulation for a reason: It is the best on the market. It may be a little more expensive than Paint Shop and its kin, but well worth those few extra dollars. Most of the pictures in the gallery have been manipulated or retouched in photoshop. If you don't have it, get it now! Highly Recommended!
